The Great South of Morocco on Horseback: In the Footsteps of the Berber Nomads

After a good breakfast, we prepare our mounts and leave the Ranch for this first day of riding. Destination:

Mountains overlooking the ranch and the ocean. We pass through Berber villages and encounter shepherds and their flocks.

Lunch in the shade of the argan trees.

In the afternoon, we leave the mountains with a superb view over the Tiznit plain. Between the fields and the wadi, we take dirt paths that allow us to maintain a good pace.

Back to the ranch for this first night

Shortly after leaving Laouina, we cross an oasis, which offers shade and coolness, following the canals, an ancient irrigation technique. After passing through the village and stopping at the spring to water the horses, we enter an arid, stony desert, with the mountains as a backdrop.

For lunch, we stop in a village where we can admire the old constructions of typical mud-brick houses.

Then we set off again to conquer this rocky desert! We pass a few palm trees and cross wadis before catching sight of the village of Ouijane and its forest of centuries-old olive trees. After a maze of narrow streets and shaded paths, we arrive at Valérie and Michel's place. You can enjoy the swimming pool before spending the night in traditional chaima tents.

After the picnic overlooking the argan tree plantations and rocky cliffs, we set off again for an afternoon

which passes through villages clinging to the foot of the mountains.

Evening and night in a comfortable hotel located at the gates of the "Little Sahara".

The day begins with a crossing of the sand dunes. We then follow the Oued Massa, the largest river in the Souss region.

Lunch near the large farms, then we head to Massa, crossing ancestral fields along the paths of

Donkeys have been shaping the landscape with their labor for centuries. Water gives rise to lush life in this delta, which contrasts with

the arid landscapes previously crossed.

We return to our hotel, where you can enjoy the pool for a relaxing moment before dinner with a view of the

palm grove.

We leave Massa to reach the coast via tracks that cross desert landscapes.

Lunch with a sea view, at the top of the cliffs.

Magnificent galloping tracks allow us to cross a new sandy desert to a typical mini Moroccan riad.

You can enjoy the peaceful and cool inner courtyard

For this last day of hiking, we finish crossing the desert along the clifftops to the port of

fishing in Aglou, where we stop for lunch.

Return towards the Ranch along the beach with 15km of fine sand!

Upon arrival at the Ranch, you will participate in the care of the horses, and can enjoy a well-deserved massage (extra charge by appointment).
