Horseback riding in Montenegro

After your first night in Montenegro and a hearty breakfast, your day begins with a forest ride to Izlazak, reaching the top of a hill from where you can see Kolašin before continuing your journey past the Ćirilovac Monastery. This first leg on horseback allows you to get acquainted with your horse and practice a few gaits. Lunch will be at Katun Krivi with locals, where you can sample several specialties. In the afternoon, you begin by climbing Mount Bjelasica. A breathtaking view of the verdant mountains unfolds before you. Your skillful, robust, and enduring horses will impress you with their ability to climb this peak with ease. The ride continues through meadows to the eco-village of Vranjak. This is where you'll stop, right in the heart of nature, surrounded by free-roaming cows and wild horses that you might even spot. Enjoy dinner outdoors or by the fire, depending on the weather, before returning to your chalet (which only has beds – showers are shared) for the night.

Today you'll hike in Biogradska Gora National Park, starting with a trek to the Zekova Glava peak at 2117m. From there, you'll descend to Pešića Lake, the second largest lake in the park. You'll also see two other lakes along the way: Ursulovačko and Ševarine. Lunch will be at a local's home in Katun Suvodo. After lunch, you'll continue to Svatovsko Groblje, the source of the Biogradska River, and then on to Ogorela Glava. You'll end your day in Katun Goleš, where your welcoming hosts will be waiting for you with refreshments. Enjoy a local dinner and spend the night in a cabin surrounded by nature (beds only - showers are shared).

After breakfast, you'll mount your horse and leave Katun Goleš. Your ride will take you to the village of Moračko Trebaljevo, then on to the Tara River. If the water level is low, you can even cross it on horseback! Lunch will be at a local restaurant on the riverbank. In the afternoon, you'll continue towards Markovo Brdo and reach Mount Sinjajevina. Its viewpoint offers magnificent views, including the Lipovo Valley. Your day ends in Potrk Katun with a local family. Dinner will be with your hosts, and you'll spend the night in their homestay (rooms with only beds - showers are shared).

Today is your longest day in the saddle this week. After a hearty breakfast and packing your picnic lunch (a late lunch!), you'll meet your horse. Your ride begins through wild landscapes where you'll have the opportunity to show off some good gaits. You might encounter locals living in the hills with their livestock, which they let graze freely. If you're lucky, you might even come across several herds of rather curious wild horses! After reaching Lake Savina Voda, you'll climb the hills to the Sinjavina plateau and continue on to Lake Zabojsko. After a long morning in the saddle, you'll stop at the lake for lunch. You can also take the time to swim or relax in peace and quiet to recharge before setting off again towards Gomile. You'll arrive at your hosts' place in the late afternoon. In the midst of their daily agricultural activities, you can observe their skills or, if you're feeling adventurous, lend a hand! Friendly dinner and overnight stay at a local's home (rooms with only beds - no shower tonight).

After breakfast, you'll pass through the Sinjavina pastures and typical villages like Njegovuđa. You'll then continue towards Durmitor Mountain for lunch at a restaurant on the shores of Lake Zminjicko. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the lake!

Your day ends at a local farm next to Lake Riblje, where local and seasonal produce awaits you for an evening of discovery and tasting.

This morning, you cross the Dutmitor meadows to the Riblje and Vražije lakes where you will have the opportunity to swim with the horses.

After lunch, you are transferred to Kolasin for the night.

Transfer to Podgorica airport (approximately 1 hour 20 minutes) after breakfast. If possible, plan for an afternoon or late afternoon departure to allow time for some final sightseeing (depending on the group's schedule). Our itineraries are provided as a guide only.
