Wadi Rum & Petra Trek

The first hike begins in Wadi Rum, heading towards the famous "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" mountain range; this impressive massif is named after the autobiography written by Thomas Edward Lawrence, better known as "Lawrence of Arabia." In his book, he recounts his experience as a British liaison officer during the Arab Revolution of 1916-1918 against the Ottoman Empire. The route takes you through the Umm Karasse Valley to the Khourj Umm Ishrine Canyon. A picnic break in the shade of the Umm Ishrine cliffs offers a relaxing moment surrounded by nature. Continuing the hike south, you reach the house of Lawrence of Arabia , where a visit is planned. The surrounding landscapes, composed of imposing red dunes, provide a striking backdrop.

After spending the night in our Bedouin camp, we packed up our belongings before beginning the ascent of Jebel Hash . This climb up a sandstone mountain reveals spectacular panoramas of the Saudi Arabian and Jordanian deserts. Once we reached the summit, we paused to admire the scenery, then descended for lunch in the shade at the foot of the mountain. Our adventure continued with a trek across the dunes around Halg Umm Nughra until we reached our new campsite at Wadi Sabet .

At daybreak, the exploration resumes on foot, heading north along the Umm Rada trail. The vegetation is limited to saxaul plants, the only food source for the camels on this sandy soil. The route crosses the Umm Sabatah region with its small red dunes. Lunch is taken under the shelter of a rock before continuing north, avoiding the tracks used by off-road vehicles. In the late afternoon, the trek reaches the western slope of Jebel Al Qatar , where the bivouac is planned for the night.

After breakfast, the hike will take you through the Wadi Umm Raman valley, along the western face of Jebel Rum . This final morning offers the perfect opportunity to admire exceptional panoramas. The morning concludes with a convivial lunch, marking the end of this excursion before you depart for Petra , the famous rose-red city. Transfer to Petra, dinner, and overnight stay at your lodge in Petra.

The Petra tour begins early in the morning to enjoy the tranquility and morning light before the main tourist crowds arrive. The itinerary includes a walk through the famous Siq , a narrow, ochre-colored corridor 350 meters long leading to the heart of the Nabataean city. The ascent to the site of sacrifice offers a panoramic view of the entire valley. The exploration continues in the lower city with the discovery of its temples, theaters, and royal tombs. A lunch break is arranged in a secluded cave before continuing the walk to the El Deir Monastery . After climbing several hundred steps, visitors reach this iconic monument of imposing dimensions: 43 meters high and 44 meters wide, carved into the rock. Although sometimes confused with the Treasury ( Khazneh) , the monastery is distinguished by its understated ornamentation and majestic presence. The experience concludes with a moment of contemplation at the monastery, accompanied by tea at sunset. At the end of the day, the group leaves the site and returns to your lodge, enriched by the discovery of an archaeological heritage dating from the 6th century, guaranteeing memorable souvenirs.

Before leaving Petra, a transfer by vehicle is arranged for a visit to Little Petra , located 9 km to the north and also a legacy of the Nabataeans. Although more modest than its neighbor, this city is certainly worth a visit. The itinerary then continues to the Dead Sea to enjoy a unique swim in the lowest and saltiest waters on Earth, offering the opportunity to float effortlessly while admiring the desert landscapes. Return to Amman. Next, visit the Jabal al-Qala citadel, perched atop an L-shaped hill. It is one of the seven Jabals that formed the ancient city. The citadel (Jabal Al-Qala) is the first place to visit, if only for the panoramic view of the city, its hills, and its countless mosques. Then, visit the Old City with its Roman theater dating from the 2nd century, which could accommodate up to 6,000 people. Visit to Souk el-Khodra , a traditional market in the city center near the Al Husseini Mosque. Dinner at the Tawaheen Alhoa restaurant, a restored former caravanserai now a meeting place for Jordanian families, and overnight stay at a hotel in Amman.
