Breakfast and some meals are included in your stay.
- In town: meals in local restaurants, refined, rich and varied Vietnamese cuisine
- Outside the cities: meals prepared by a cook who accompanies you or by locals
Specialties include nem (or cha gio), Lau (Vietnamese hot pot), banh cuon, rice pancakes filled with minced pork, chao tôm, roasted sugar cane rolled in spicy shrimp paste, banh pho, rice noodle soup that can be eaten at any time... and seafood in Halong Bay.
During your stay, drinks, including mineral water, are at your own expense.
During the trek, drinking water (usually boiled) is available for filling your water bottles. It is sometimes possible to refill water from streams, however, it is always essential to purify the water (using Micropur or Hydroclonazone tablets) or filter it (using a Katadyn-type filter).
In the city, the same is true with tap water, which is never drinkable.
Avoid buying plastic bottles as much as possible because plastic recycling is impossible in this country.
