A walk is possible to the top of Namgyal Hill , where the old royal palace stands , overlooking the site. Acclimatization begins gently, as the city is located at an altitude of 3,550 meters.

Your local driver will pick you up and drop you off in the village of Gia .

You'll set off with your guide for a short 2-hour walk to get your legs warmed up. Discover the villages of Gia and Sasuma before reaching Rumtse .

Upon arrival at the campsite, you will meet your local team for the coming days.

It will consist of a cook who will prepare delicious meals for you, helpers, and a muleteer who will introduce you to his horses.

You distribute your necessary belongings for this trek.

We recommend you bring a bag of approximately 35L for your personal belongings and necessities (sunscreen, 3L of water, jacket, cap, snacks, etc.) during the day.

A second bag containing the rest of your belongings will need to be given to the muleteer. The horses carry the equipment, food, etc. So please remember not to overload your bags!

After a hearty breakfast (included), you'll begin a gentle day's trek from Rumtse to Kyamar . You'll start a gradual descent into the Kyamar Valley.

It was through this valley that salt from Lake Tso Kar was transported to Leh and the Indus Valley.

You follow the path that was once the salt route and cross two rivers. Around you stretch vast green plains bordered by rocky mountains in various shades of ochre.

You are captivated by this landscape so different from the rest of Ladakh and walk without missing a single detail of this splendid lunar and mineral scenery.

Along the way, you might spot marmots and partridges, or hear the call of the Tibetan snow rooster. You might even be lucky enough to see a herd of argali.

The argali is a wild mountain sheep that lives only in the Himalayan region. It is its own worst enemy; when its horns grow large and heavy, it can get its head stuck on the ground and become an easy target for leopards or wolves.

After your first awakening in the middle of nature, you begin a gradual and easy ascent towards the Kyamar La (4,850m), which offers a spectacular view of the Changtang mountains .

Among the vegetation, you will be able to discover different local flowers and spot wild rabbits wandering around.

You then descend into a new valley inhabited for only a few months of the year by the Chang-Pas nomads originating from Tibet.

This population lives year-round in black yak canvas tents. Following a well-established routine, moving from one pasture to another, these herders of goats, yaks, sheep, donkeys and horses live mainly from the production and weaving of cashmere wool, so renowned throughout the world.

You will see empty bunkers that were sometimes used by the army.

After crossing the pass, you gradually descend the trail. Occasionally, you may encounter nomads with their herds. You will have to cross a river, barefoot or not depending on the water level.

When you wake up, be quiet; you'll likely spot the marmots raising their heads, waiting for the sun's rays to warm them. You might also have the chance to see the two different types of wild mice scampering about during the day.

You progress by climbing the Mandalchan La Pass (4,850m) and crossing several streams.

Today you will also cross the Shibuk La pass (4,980m). Here you will see mountains with black rocks; the marmots also take on this color. The ascent takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of walking.

To the mere sound of colorful prayer flags snapping in the wind, you glimpse the intense colors of Tso Kar Lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The spectacle is magnificent.

After breakfast, you will begin by heading down towards Tso Kar Lake .

With your goal in sight, you descend the valley to reach the shores of the lake.

Keep your eyes peeled, many bird species, including black-necked cranes and brahmin ducks, migrate through the region. You might also spot kiangs, wild asses, marmots, and ibex.

Then you walk along the salty shore of Tso Kar lake for 2.5 hours. The path is fairly flat.

You return to your campsite for the night.

You continue your walk along the western shore of the lake and observe the salt deposits there. This is why it is nicknamed the "white lake".

Today's walk is a truly magnificent, steady, and gradual one. The beauty and immensity of the landscapes immerse you in silent reflection all the way to Nuruchan .

The day begins with a 3-hour walk on fairly flat terrain before progressing easily to a small pass.

Then you cross a river before reaching the Horlam Kongka La pass (4,900m). From the pass, you can see several rivers. You have a picnic in a beautiful spot.

Between mid-July and mid-September, it is not uncommon to encounter Tibetan families who settle here for the summer. Previously, more than 40 families lived here; now many have settled permanently in Leh.

Today, at the start of the trek, you will gradually ascend for 2.5 hours towards the Kyamayuru La pass (5,410m). You might be lucky enough to spot eagles flying above these rocky mountains, or argali sheep and marmots likely hiding behind the rocks.

Then, you descend for 1.5 hours on the other side of the pass along the river. You enjoy a picnic lunch on a beautiful green expanse before climbing the Gyama Barma La pass (5,150 m). You are rewarded with a beautiful view of the snow-capped mountains and glaciers.

You descend 300m to reach your campsite. Nighttime temperatures may be below freezing due to the campsite's high altitude.

Today you will climb the Yalung Nyau La pass (5,435m), the second highest pass of your trek (and the last before Tso Moriri!) which will give you a guaranteed sense of accomplishment!

Once at the summit, catch your breath in front of a breathtaking view of the incredibly turquoise-colored Tso Moriri lake and the peaks that form a natural border with Tibet.

The further down you go, the wider the panorama of the lake becomes, gradually revealing the full mineral beauty of the landscape. Then you descend slowly for 3 hours to Korzok Phu , the summer pasture of the Korzok people.

It's time to say goodbye to your trekking team: cooks, helpers, and muleteers. For them, the adventure ends here, while you continue your journey with your French-speaking guide.

Your driver will pick you up. Just 20 minutes after leaving your campsite, you will admire the breathtaking view of Lake Tso Moriri .

After enjoying this suspended moment, you take the road back to Leh .

You'll discover Tso Yara Lake along the road, with the mountains and high-altitude desert as a backdrop. At certain times of the year, you might spot nomadic encampments near the lake. Herds of pashmina goats wander across the road.

You travel along the Indus River , the last leg before returning to the "connected world". Upon arrival in Leh, enjoy a well-deserved rest!
