In a few words

This trek leads to the summit of Posets, the second highest peak in the Pyrenees at 3375m , just 30 meters lower than its taller neighbor, Aneto. Both are located on the Spanish side. The hike begins on the French side and ascends to the summit.

The two nights are planned at the Viados refuge, offering breathtaking views of the Posets peaks. The ascent via the north face is challenging but doesn't require advanced technical skills. While not mountaineering, a good level of fitness is still necessary. The days are long and the kilometers numerous, sure to satisfy those seeking a challenge. The landscapes are wild and unspoiled, and you'll rarely encounter anyone on the trails. A loop is planned to return to the starting point.

The trek begins at the Rioumajou hospice (1570 m). This valley is steeped in history, having been a key crossing point between France and Spain. Wild and untouched in winter due to its road inaccessibility, it attracts more visitors in summer who come to admire its beauty.

We'll quickly leave the crowds behind on the lower section, as we need to begin our first climb to reach the border pass at 2530m. Once in Spain, a long descent through mountain pines, with views of the Posets, the second highest peak in the Pyrenees, will lead us to the Viados refuge at 1760m. Upon arrival, a well-deserved aperitif will be in order, with the view of tomorrow's objective, the summit of the Posets, as our backdrop.

A magnificent trek through the stunning scenery of the Spanish Pyrenees, demanding a certain level of physical fitness and including some more technical sections. It's a trek that deserves to be better known. Our guide, Manu, shared his extensive knowledge and approach to the mountains with us in a friendly and cheerful atmosphere, and the organization was flawless. It was a truly memorable experience!
