In a few words

Are you planning a multi-day trek or hike? Wondering if you're ready? We've created a training course to help you prepare for and organize a self-supported trek . To ensure these moments are truly magical, it's best to anticipate potential problems as much as possible to avoid them or manage them effectively. The mountains are not without risk: storms, fog, lack of cell service, sometimes technical terrain, and the physical exertion of walking and carrying gear mean it's wise to have some experience before embarking on such an adventure. The objectives? To gain the necessary information about the mountains: risks, managing exertion, plants, water, what to do in case of an accident, nutrition, rationing, and information on the equipment to pack in your backpack for a self-supported trek. Before your trip, we'll conduct a phone or video conference interview to discuss your equipment needs.

The first morning will be devoted to learning the fundamentals. Packing your backpack for a self-supported trek. What do you take? What kind of equipment? Preparing your packs for two days: gear, food, essentials (compass, IGN map, repair kit, first aid kit, etc.), technical clothing. You'll learn how to pack your gear and organize your pack! How to read the weather forecast, manage rescue operations, who to contact and how, with the different steps to follow. This will also be an opportunity to study IGN maps (handling, compass and map), and to plan a two-day trek (identifying hazards, setting up contingency plans, etc.).

In the afternoon, you'll put the theory into practice with a 7km hike and orienteering exercises. This first half-day will be a chance to get warmed up and used to the weight of your pack. You'll practice orienteering on and off-trail, triangulation, and UTM coordinates. Meals are taken at the accommodation. A nighttime orienteering exercise is also included.

An excellent weekend that I absolutely recommend. This is largely thanks to our guide, Maelle. She is simply exceptional! She loves the region, is a wealth of knowledge, and a truly lovely person. The description was almost entirely accurate.
The service involves connecting us with a local agency. Decathlon gives visibility to local businesses that are professionals and passionate about their region. The principle is simple and beneficial for everyone. The only thing that needs improvement is communication between the various stakeholders: the customer, Decathlon, the local agency, and especially the on-site representative.
