In a few words

A complete change of scenery just an hour from the French coast. Each island possesses its own unique charm. First, we arrive on Jersey , the Isle of Flowers, in a distinctly British atmosphere. In the north of the island, the Cliff Path overlooks majestic cliffs, from Grosnez Point to Bouley Bay . A short crossing to the island of Guernsey and we discover the port of St. Peter Port, a charming village built like an amphitheater overlooking the sea, where Victor Hugo once stayed. The small hamlets in the south of the island and the verdant valleys offer a pleasant tranquility . On the island of Sark, we step back in time where the sound of our footsteps is only muffled by horse-drawn carriages… This tour is offered in 2- or 3-star hotels.

The highlights

  • British charm 2 hours from Saint-Malo
  • The breathtaking panoramas from the high coastal cliffs
  • Well-located 2* or 3* hotels in the heart of Saint Helier and Saint Peter Port

Go to the starting point

Access by train
Take the train toGare de Saint-Malo

Direct train from Paris to Saint-Malo (TGV - approximately 2 hours 40 minutes) or with a connection in Rennes. To reach the St Malo ferry terminal (Naye ferry terminal), you can walk 20 minutes or take the bus (lines 1 and 2).

Access by car
Travel to the place of stay with parking available

From Paris: Take the A13 towards Caen, then the A84 towards Rennes. Exit the A13 motorway and follow signs for Mont Saint-Michel, then Saint-Malo (N175 then N176). In Saint-Malo, follow the signs for "Gare maritime / Terminal ferry du Naye". Allow plenty of time to park your car, as you must arrive at the ferry terminal 1 hour and 10 minutes before your boat's departure (departures can be early). We recommend the Paul Féval car park (shuttle service to the walled city). Depending on your boat's departure time, you may need to book an overnight stay in Saint-Malo the night before your departure (please contact us for details).

The trip was very well organized in every respect. We particularly appreciated the possibility of downloading the entire travel guide for each participant, including the route of each hike with GPS and map, which was very useful as the routes were not marked.

The hotel's quality is very peculiar: a 3-star hotel with a 140cm bed and a sagging mattress, incredibly single-glazed windows, and a very mediocre breakfast! The €70 per night supplement for the third star is hard to swallow. Add to that unfriendly staff and an unacceptable breakfast basket, and you'll understand why we won't be repeating the Channel Islands experience. On the third day, we had to skip breakfast, the hike, or the boat trip. We chose not to do the hike... What a shame.

Hello Laurent,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your stay in the Channel Islands.

We are sorry that the accommodation did not meet your expectations. The bedding in your room was recently replaced, but we understand that the hotel's older style may have disappointed you.

For the takeaway breakfast, our local agency has planned improvements for the coming seasons, so that the organization is smoother.

We regret that the early departure for Sark disrupted your schedule.

Thank you for your comments, and for your positive feedback on the islands and our digital roadbook.

A well-balanced trip for independent hiking and discovering the culture of the Channel Islands. The coastal paths are breathtaking, and even moderately fit hikers will find them enjoyable. Be aware that there are frequent ascents and descents, so those with sensitive knees should be aware of them. All the logistics of ferry/hotel transfers are taken care of from the moment you board the ferry in Saint-Malo. All you have to do is enjoy the hotel and the hikes. We did need to make a few adjustments (e.g., a bus service was unavailable on Guernsey), but that's the beauty of this type of trip: we were able to manage it without difficulty and, in the end, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The agency provided excellent support, addressing all my needs and questions. I stayed with my children, aged 14 and 16, in the Channel Islands. We had a wonderful, independent holiday, alternating between hiking and cultural visits.
