Easy hikes through rice paddies, across cultivated fields, and up the volcanoes of Java and Bali, visits to Hindu and Buddhist temples, and relaxing moments by the sea—this is the program for this two-week trip to Indonesia. The first part of the journey takes place on the island of Java, in the Yogyakarta region, the cradle of Javanese culture, home to temples such as Borobudur and Pranbanan. It's also an island of lush vegetation and volcanic landscapes, with coffee, cacao, and spice plantations on their slopes. We explore the Tengger caldera with Mount Bromo and watch the sunrise over Mount Semeru. Then we ascend Mount Kawah Ijen, famous for its acidic lake and sulfur mining. The second part of the program takes place on the Island of the Gods, Bali. A veritable exotic garden where vibrant local culture creates a festive and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere: daily offerings, swirling incense, small hidden temples, and religious ceremonies. Exploring Menjangan Island and the richness of its marine life, as well as climbing Mount Batur before sunrise, will enrich this journey with a unique sense of escape.
