The village of Arvieux is a popular destination for Nordic skiing, located at the foot of the Col d'Izoard.
With 28 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails, it offers routes for both skating and classic styles, rising to between 1550 m and 1780 m in altitude. The region generally benefits from early snowfall and also has an artificial snowmaking system, attracting local, regional, and even national teams for training.
The cross-country ski area offers six trails (1 green, 1 blue, 1 red and 3 black) spread over two zones, for a total of 32 km. The Nordic ski stadium in Brunissard, at the foot of the Col d'Izoard, extends over 16.5 km, including the green trail Le Plan d'Eau, the blue trail Les Clots, the red trail Les Pins, and the black trail La Bergerie.
This site also houses the Nordic ski center near Jamberoute.
The black runs, meanwhile, are located on the former Souliers and Belvédères du Lac de Roue routes, stretching for 15.5 km, and start from the La Chalp d'Arvieux alpine ski resort. In addition, the Col d'Izoard route, which begins in Brunissard, covers 14 km. Each year, several "Intégrale Izoard" events are organized, where the trails are groomed and smoothed on both sides of the Col, reserved for cross-country skiers in the morning.
To complete your experience, afternoon activities may include husky sledding, tobogganing, snowshoeing, or additional cross-country skiing.
