In a few words

Building an igloo high in the mountains and spending a night in it is possible! With the guidance of a professional , you'll construct your own snow shelter, provided the snow conditions are sufficient and safe. If there isn't enough snow, the experience remains unique: a large tipi with a stove can accommodate up to 8 people for a meal and an evening, or even overnight. Tents are also available, and the more adventurous can sleep under the stars or a tarp. This trip is accessible to everyone, even without snowshoeing or construction experience. After building, you'll stroll under a starry sky before enjoying a cheese fondue and snuggling up in your winter shelter. A night in the winter mountains , perfect for a magical weekend !

The expert's opinion

This weekend is not reserved for extreme sports enthusiasts, however, depending on the weather conditions you will have to navigate through snow of varying depths (if there is any) with an average of 400 to 500m of positive elevation gain, all while carrying your overnight gear (sleeping bag).

Fantastic weekend thanks to our superb guide Rémi, I highly recommend him! However, the snowshoeing/igloo weekend turned into a hike/camping trip that very morning, and we were very disappointed not to have had any other options. We had paid to go snowshoeing and build and sleep in an igloo, so we were really disappointed in that respect. Furthermore, a small gesture of goodwill following the cancellation of a spot five days prior (due to an unforeseen injury) would have been appreciated.

It was an exceptional experience! The lack of snow prevented us from building the igloo, but we were able to sleep under the stars, gazing at the Milky Way! The independent guide was fantastic, very understanding, attentive, and always tried to offer us the best possible experience. He had also thoughtfully brought along some extras like sausage, cake, and a bottle of wine. It was truly wonderful! It's worth noting, however, that without these extras, the fondue alone would have been a bit of a light meal.

A lovely weekend, though a bit "physical." Building an igloo isn't something you can just wing! But the guide was always there to advise and help. A true adventure in a beautiful, snow-covered landscape. The tipi, with its fur lining, was perfect for keeping warm and enjoying a fondue! Snowshoeing or cramponing were also part of the experience. An experience to be had with a really good sleeping bag!

Great experience. Maybe not for absolute beginners... You need to be reasonably fit... Sleeping at -12°C... well... sleeping is a bit of an exaggeration... I'll keep very fond memories of this little trip.

A truly wonderful experience! Right up until the last minute, we didn't know if we'd be able to build the igloos for the night, given the weather conditions. No snowshoeing, the avalanche risk was too high, safety first… But our guide had planned an equally enjoyable program for us. We started our hike to the campsite in a light drizzle. A route through the heart of the forest with a nice climb… Then, reaching around 1200 meters, we continued our ascent in the snow. I thought, "Great, we'll be able to build the igloos!" But our guide remained cautious, explaining that several conditions had to be met for construction, so at that point, it was still uncertain. But nothing dampened the good spirits of the group, who were incredibly friendly and energetic. A few more meters and we discovered the site, covered in snow under the sun—simply magnificent: a small stone chalet nestled in the meadow, a view of the snow-covered peaks, a true connection with nature. A picnic lunch break was in order. Everyone took their time eating, and then came the verdict: we could build our igloos to spend the night in. The guide gave us advice and helped us complete this project. Thanks to the energy and solidarity of the group, we built two XXL igloos, and we were quite proud of our success. Dinner time arrived, and we needed to recharge. A delicious Pyrenean fondue was the perfect way to spend a lovely evening, even if I was a bit tired… Then it was time for bed (we distributed our gear to keep warm). Snug in my sleeping bag, I had a good night's sleep, a little chilly in the morning, but nothing serious. Wake-up call at 7:00 a.m. for the sunrise—simply magical, its reflection on the mountain ridges. What could be more beautiful to start the day? A good breakfast to fuel up before packing everything up and heading back down to the valley. Thank you to our guide and the group.

The goal for this weekend was to go snowshoeing, then build an igloo and sleep in it. The unseasonably warm temperatures for February and the lack of snow at 1300 meters altitude prevented us from building the igloo. Nevertheless, we were able to enjoy two beautiful hikes, the second of which was through the snow to a pass above our campsite, where we slept in a tent. Upon waking, we were lucky enough to find 10 cm of snow in our meadow, which somewhat lessened our disappointment. Furthermore, our guide, Hugo, led us through two active and enriching days, teaching us about the local flora and fauna. We'll have to do it again when the snow conditions are better.
