Today, your adventure begins in the magnificent Killary Fjord. You'll have the opportunity to board the Connemara Lady catamaran for a cruise along the fjord to the Atlantic Ocean, with commentary on the fascinating history, scenery, and people of this spectacular region. The trip is often accompanied by the sight of dolphins leaping in the waves.
Back on your bike, today's route will take you through the village of Letterfrack, home to Connemara National Park. You can take a break and enjoy a walking loop with stunning views of the Atlantic and distant islands, or grab a coffee and learn more about this ancient Irish landscape at the charming visitor centre.
From there, you can walk the short distance to the iconic Kylemore Abbey and Gardens. We highly recommend stopping at this magical Gothic castle, steeped in fascinating history. Built in 1867, it boasts one of the finest Victorian walled gardens in Ireland and is also an excellent place for lunch.
Leaving Kylemore, you'll discover the full majesty of the Twelve Bens mountain range as you pass beneath their imposing peaks. Your journey ends today on the Renvyle Peninsula, where you'll spend the night. This dramatic promontory jutting into the Atlantic Ocean is dotted with archaeological sites.
